When I a re-install Office 2008, it works for about 1 week and then it stops working again. Next I thought to try the new version of Office (Office 2011), so I did the trial download, and sure enough got the same problem. After about 2 weeks, it stopped responding. In the Office 2011 SP1 Update (14.1.0) volume window, double-click the Office 2011 SP1 Update (14.1.0) application to start the update process, and then follow the instructions on the screen. If the installation finishes successfully, you can remove the update installer from your hard disk.
Quit MS Word, open the Go menu with the Option (Alt) key pressed - Library - locate the file 'com.microsoft.Word.plist' and move it to your Desktop. Open MS Word once again. If the problem is resolved, you can delete the file from Desktop.
If this doesn't help, quit all MS Office apps and open the Go menu with the Option (Alt) key pressed - Library - Preferences - Microsoft. Locate the file 'com.microsoft.Word.prefs.plist' and move it to your Desktop. Restart Word. if everything works, remove this file.
